The Ronald H. Brown Leadership Awards Gala honors outstanding individuals, organizations or corporations in the Greater Pittsburgh community who exemplify leadership in improving the quality of life for African Americans.

The first Gala in 1996 was held at the Carnegie Music Hall and grossed $160,000.  Since 1996, the Ronald H. Brown Leadership Awards Gala has raised over $8 Million dollars from individuals and corporations. More than 80 cents of each dollar received helps defray the costs of key programs and services of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh.

A message from Carlos T. Carter, President & CEO of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh

As the new President & CEO Of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, it is my pleasure to thank you for being a part of the 2023 Ronald H. Brown Leadership Awards Gala.  I am especially excited to have the occasion to acknowledge and applaud 2023 Civic Leadership Honoree Saleem Ghubril and 2023 Community Leadership Honorees Leon Ford and Dr. Angela Reynolds for their notable examples in nourishing equity, unity and understanding. This year, we are excited to announce our first Honoree in the new Emerging Leadership category showcasing youth: NA for Change, a student-formed and led group at North Allegheny School District founded to address the gaps in the District’s approach to diversity, equity and inclusion.
