Ranked at the highest performance level by the National Urban League for more than a decadethe Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh is the place where Southwestern Pennsylvanians join together to enable African Americans to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights, through programs focused on education, employment, leadership and advocacy, child and family well-being, housing, health, financial empowerment, and self-sufficiency. 

THE 2020 IMPACT:
Through new and existing partnerships, our Housing Department has assisted over 2,800 families helping to keep them sheltered during the pandemic through mortgage relief and rental assistance.

Our AllOnePittsburgh initiative supplied over 3,700 families with hard-to-find essential hygiene items during and throughout the height of the pandemic. We have worked with community partners to deliver these much-needed essential items to some of Pittsburgh’s most distressed regions.

Our Youth Leadership Development Team virtually engaged 45 black female and male high school students in critical-issue conversations and youth leadership training programs.

Our Center for Economic Self-Reliance moved 148 unemployed or underemployed working age adults into pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs

Supplied over 900 families with Thanksgiving provisions with the help of 76 (COVID-safe socially-distanced) volunteers.
